Splitboarding A splitboard snowboard is built specifically for the backcountry rider. Splitboards are designed to break down into two separate halves for touring and uphill travel (with climbing skins). Special bindings are required as well. Once you've reached the top of the terrain feature, you reconnect your splitboard for the ride back downhill. However, it's important to note that you will need appropriate backcountry tools, knowledge of the backcountry, weather and snow conditions and climbing skins to safely take advantage of the freedom of a splitboard.

Medium The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.

Part of getting to those epic BC lines is having a kit that is up to snuff and the Burton Hitchhiker Splitboard Bindings will be a major piece in that puzzle. Boasting a burly, yet lightweight aluminum baseplate designed by Spark R&D for climbing convenience and descending confidence. A dual position, single wire ramp adjuster changes angle on the fly when you climb. Going up is half the fun and when going down, fully adjustable straps will lock down your boots into a high performance, single component highback in a flash. Spark R&D Tesla T1 Single Wire Baseplate – A single fatty wire built into the baseplate switches easily from stowed, to low (12°), to high (18°) climbing positions and back again while touring. Eliminating the second wire saves weight and fiddle time.
Straps
Hammockstrap™ – Reactstrap roots in a stitchless construction for ultra-response with minimal materials. The addition of a nylon cross spine equals a more direct connection with the board.
Flex Slider – Makes the ankle straps move out of the way so you can step into the binding without obstruction. Burton's Flex Slider has a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Supergrip Capstrap™ 2.0 – This minimalist design merges two materials into one technologically advanced toe strap. A firmer material in the spine provides a supportive and lightweight skeleton, while a softer over-molded material improves boot wrap and comfort.
