Since 1998 Gravis has created premium footwear, bags, and clothing that closed the gap between action sports function and sophisticated style. They gather their inspiration from the Gravis team of athletes, artists and musicians of the highest caliber - an eclectic mix of personalities who travel the world and have access to the latest movements in fashion, creativity, progressive design and action sports performance. Gravis designs emerge from the stories they bring back from their travels. This creative pool of talent is involved in every step of the development process and in the end produces quality products that live up to their evolving standards. Gravis is a company that doesn't look back and doesn't wait to see what's happening next as they strive to fill the hole in the footwear market for "lifestyle footwear." Noteworthy Gravis Details:
- Significant emphasis is put into R&D to develop a proprietary last/fit. One result is the ultra-comfortable, anatomically correct Gravis Perimeter Support Footbed, which was first developed in 1998 and is still used in Gravis shoes today.
- Gravis maintains a heavy participation in the art community by collaborating with artists such as Stash, Futura, SSUR, Kostas, and Phil Frost who have designed custom footbeds for the company, which have later been sold as collector's items.
- The fusion of art and footwear becomes a mainstay in Gravis products. They teamed up with Maharishi to develop a co-branded shoe and sandal as well as collaborations with HVW8 to produce a limited-release reflective Tarmac shoe.
- The Gravis Art Collective, which was first introduced in Europe, features original canvas artwork from Marok, Matt Sewell, and Delta among others. Their artwork was later applied to one-of-a-kind shoes. This series turned into an instant success for Gravis and a must-have for shoe collectors.
Gravis developed the Black Box line - featuring limited quantities and colorways of their shoe designs only available to select dealers worldwide.- Gravis continues in the tradition of artists collaborations with Stash's "Gravis Camo" print that was done in a vibrant purple for the Black Box line. The shoe traveled around on a world tour in NYC, LA and Tokyo to launch the exclusive collection.
- Gravis teamed up with DJ's A-Trak, Steve Aoki and T. Raumschmiere to represent the Gravis Black Box DJ collection originally inspired by a Gravis x Turntable Lab Collaboration.
- World Class Development Team: Benji Weatherly, Kalani Robb, David Rastovich, Keir Dillon, Steve Aoki, Kassia Meador, Roman De Marchi, Heikki Sorsa, Rizal Tanjung, Trevor Andrew, Sanoe Lake, Claire Bevilacqua, JP Solberg, Marlon Gerber
