Absolutelly perfect skis. Great in pow, reliable in hardpack. Relatively OK on the groomers as for a ski like this. I've skied Chef for more or less 90 days, testing some ~100 underfoot skis in the meantime (Gotama, Mantra,...) nothing rides like Chef...

I am 179cm, 77-80 kg, the Chefs are 181.
Is the Coomba as good as the Chief is ?

Great deep snow ski....

Durable, Good Carving Ability, Good Grip, Great Flotation, Lightweight, scratch resist.who cares, Scratch Resistant, Smooth Ride

If there is 10"+ of fresh powder, I call out the chiefs. I think K2 did a good thing with the 'Coomba' but they should have kept the chiefs aswell. My daughter really wanted some 160cm chiefs but is still looking for something else.

Skied these at Island Lake Lodge Catskiing over Xmas 2006, they handled extremely well and were a delight to carve through the powder in the trees. Great flotation and easy of turning make the Apache Chief skis a powder hounds best friends!
Liked them so much I bought a pair from Evogear.

I currently own Volant "Chubb" 180 and have used in the powder for 10 years. I had a Demo day in Feb 07 and tried this ski first "174". Then tried Nordica Supercharger "Enforcer". Then Volkl "Mantra" "175". Went back to the K2 Apache "Chief". I was simply amazed with the ease to ski Deep powder, traverse, and on the groomed snow. I had to buy this ski right then. If you like powder of any kind and ski all conditions this ski is for you. Highly recommended. 90% powder 10% groomed ski. Enjoy...

This is a great ski! I skied them last weekend (Feb 07) at Alta and Snowbird in powder, cut up powder, groomers, steeps, and soft bumps and they did it all well. Getting them on edge takes a little more effort than a GS race ski, of course, but they'll definitely carve a solid arc if you get 'em on edge. They're very quick for fall-line turns in the steeps as well.

I bought them as a powder-specific ski but I'll probably use them as an all-mountain ski on all but the hardest of hard pack days.

I demod a 181 K2 Apache Chief in early season hard-snow conditions in Utah recently and these skiis are the best all-mountain skiis I have tried. They have the 98mm under foot for nice float in powder but I am really impressed with them on the hard-snow groomers. They carve great and plowm thru crud with ease. I tried the Volkl Gotoma skiis also but these Chiefs have way more control on the hardpack and crud. Great ski that does it all!
