I have been riding in a pair of Salomon F20's for two seasons and I love them. They are the BEST, MOST COMFORTABLE boots I have ever had in 15 years of riding. I have owned Nitro Team, Burton everything, Flow, Salomon and ridden in several others. These Salomon Malamute boots are what I hoped for: a solid, STIFF, freeriding (and carving capable) soft-boot. I used to be a hard-boot carver so I know how to rail a board! If you are expecting a marsh-mellow soft boot that fits like fuzzy slippers, get some low-end freestyle boots! If you want a near ski-boot firm liner fit and similar performance, these are the stiffest you can get say many shop techs. I agree. No issues with tired ankles and no-support. Not as "I love these!" comfortable as my Salomon F20's(which I swear-by), but these are not designed as a freestyle boot. These are designed for ultimate support and response. Probably don't sell to well because they are too much support for the intermediate rider, even advanced probably. These are for demanding advanced/ expert riders desiring the best support and response in a snowboard boot. you give up some comfort to get the performance! Mission accomplished Salomon!

with out a doubt the stiffest boot i have ever put my foot into. I love it but it would definitely cause trouble for a beginner due to zero flex.

Take awhile to break in, but if you like a stiff boot you'll love these. The lacing system is easy and pretty quick once you get the hang of it. Just got back from Jackson Hole where they had 18 inches of snow and one night! These boots do awesome in the powder!

Can't really find anything bad to say about these boots; I took the step-up from a salomon F24 and found these to be as comfortable, found a better lacing system, and the stiffer boot I was looking for. The small drawbacks compared to the F series is that the Malamute and that my toe strap tends to move around more on the malamutes, so I ride with it a bit higher.

I use these boots about 50 days a year. My last pare lasted 3 seasons. The inner liners finally gave out near the end of the season. These boots are great for the advanced rider who thrashes the whole mountain.

Rode 1st day in powder with them, seemed too tight, so I loosened the shell for more flex. Second day hard packed, kept them tight for fast response. I can actually feel the performance of my snowboard now. PLus my drake bindings have an adjustable tension baseplate, which I can now feel working for me. Great boots for fast riding, carving, backcountry, or casual park/pipe riding.
