Volkl Gotama Skis 2009: Go big or go home, right? Well, you can for sure go big on the Volkl Gotama skis. The Gotama skis were originally made as Volkl’s backcountry twin tip (and still dominate the category). However, these bad boys have had a change of heart and have been reinvented for the big-mountain skier who wants the ultimate versatility all over the mountain.
-
-
Power Construction: Volkl's longest-running construction, Power Construction utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup. This construction provides tremendous grip, stability, and sensitivity when combined with the Sensorwood core.
-
Tough Box: Constructed by wrapping the Power Construction wood core with layers of fiberglass strands. Made up of numerous 4 X 4 wraps and oriented at different angles, the Tough Box increases the strength of the connection between binding and ski.
-
Armed Edge: Volkl's proprietary edge anchor system offers an enhanced cosmetic look along with greater strength. The edges on the Mantra are built with Völkl logos as their anchors. The logos are larger than the traditional edge anchor and offer resistance to breakage and pull-out.
-
Multi Layer wood core: The Multi Layer wood core is made up of two cores - a denser and more powerful core in the binding mounting area and running along the ski's top layer and a lighter wood core as a lower layer. Bonded together to create one wood core and wrapped with the Tough Box construction, this new construction provides precise skiing performance, turning and jumping ease, and an improved binding connection platform.
