Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC Skis 2008- The Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC Skis are perfect for those looking for a backcountry freestyle ski for powder, hitting kickers and using the mountain as their playground. The Brigade BC has the same set-up as the Create-It BC, featuring a THC core made from three different materials: poplar for lightless and liveliness, fume wood for quick response and ski-to-snow feel, and ash wood for absorbing shocks and vibrations. The rocking chair effect guarantees spring on the rail and pop out of the half pipe. If the mountain is your playground, the 2008 Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC Skis are your new toys.
  • 60% Backcountry, 40% Jib, Recommended size by weight- 140-170 lbs (171cm), 160-180 lbs (178cm), 170 lbs+ (185cm)
  • THC Core- A hybrid core made from three different materials: poplar for lightless and liveliness, fume wood for quick response and ski-to-snow feel, and ash wood for absorbing shocks and vibrations.
  • 30 Degree Slanting Sidewalls- Sidewalls are angled at a 30 degree incline to improve swing weight, reduce the overall weight of the ski, and enhance edging and durability.
  • Rebound Tip- Has a layer of Visco in the tip and tail of the ski to absorb shocks and reduce over flexing.
  • Rocking Chair Effect- These skis have softer flexing tips and tails and a stiffer mid-section. This allows the skier to load the tips or tails to spring up on a rail, or pop out of the half pipe, improving balance, aka: the “ollie” effect.

Comments about Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC 2008:

I LOVE these skis. They float above the pow-pow like nothing else i've skied on and handle groomers with massive amounts of speed. They look great, flex incredibly well when you need it and can handle any snow/mountain condition from the backcountry to the park. The top surface does scratch pretty easily but if that's the only complaint I can muster, WELL worth it!

CANT HOLD A BINDING ON, TOO SOFT A CORE!
By Pando Commando from Bozeman, MT - Bridger Bowl on 2/3/2009
Pros:
Good Grip, Great Flotation, Lightweight, Smooth Ride
Cons:
Scratches Easily, Too soft of core
Best Uses:
Downhill, Icy Conditions, Powder
Describe Yourself:
Competitive Skier
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC 2008:

The cores are so soft on these things I've blown the two front screws on my rear bindings right out of the ski 4 times now. First three times I had them re-healicoiled and they ripped right back out in about 3 days of use. Now they're back in the shop getting re-mounted and we'll see if they can hold up, but I highly doubt it. Don't waste your time on skis that don't have mounting plates in the core or a some type of metal layer near the top sheet. I'm lucky I haven't been seriously injured from the rear binding blowing off my ski!!! BEWARE!!!

evo Response: Hi, This is definitely not a common occurance. The Rossignol Brigade does have a mounting plate it in. There is a possibility that you may have received a bad ski with so many skis made it can happen. You should definitely get in touch with your local shop and have them send it to warranty. If you purchased the skis from us please give our customer service a call. Cheers, Sunny

Comments about Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC 2008:

I use these on groomers, in the park, and in backcountry - they perform very well everywhere. Flotation in powder is terrific, and they are an extremely durable ski. I have not had any problems with the top surface scratching off but have ridden over some rocks and had to have the bottoms cleaned up - they filled in fine. I would recommend this ski to anyone at this price.

Comments about Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC 2008:

Love the skis, seem to do everything well and I have abused them to no end. No topsheet problems here, hit a few rocks on the bottoms but they patched up fine. Not too stiff and not too soft, very solid underfoot where I like it. Next stop S7's when I get the cash!

Comments about Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC 2008:

I'm 5'7" 140 lbs and I bought the 171's. In hindsight I wish I would have gone longer because they ski short. All in all these are a great all mountain ski. I knew they would float well in the powder due to their size and all the reviews I had read, but i was really suprised how well they handle in the crud and the groomers. I ski very fast and I haven't had any problems with them chattering at high speeds.

Comments about Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC 2008:

i got these mounted with some marker barons, and have been out hiking on them several times, and i have also used them in the resort several times. light, but fairly fat, and exactly what i was looking for. Besides for a few dings, in them, i have absolutely no complaints. super fun skis!

Service & Delivery comments:

i couldnt get my coupon for 50 bucks to work, so i called up the store, and the guy i talked to was really great and super helpful. i cant remember his name now, but he defenitely deserves some credit. ill be buying from evo again!

Comments about Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC 2008:

I have to say in all fairness that I've only had these out for six days in Colorado, Breck and Keystone mostly, but all on days where it had fresh on the ground. The flotation is nice, just sit back and these things just push through deep snow. Theyre faster than I expected, and they actually turn better as well! The BC's are lightweight, and ever so importantly, they look sick. I am 5 11 and weigh about 165, I ski about 65 days a year, and would say I am a pretty aggresive skier. Iwent with the 178's, really glad I did, just the right amount of ski for someone in my height and weight range. Dont know that I'd ski on them a lot though unless there's plenty of snow to push through, the nagative is that they do take dings a bit easier, mine already have a small one. But I plan one using these skis for days when mother nature blesses us!! Singing evo's praises, great site!!!

Comments about Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC 2008:

If you are looking for an all mountain ski that can serve you on a variety of days, you can stop right now. The Rossignol Scratch Brigade BC is wide enough to float in those epic powder days, but has enough shape and edge to be just perfect on groomers and crud. The skis are also extremely light and durable for riders who want to spend time in the park. Ultimately, this is a great high end all mountain ski and would be a perfect fit for someone who needs versatility but can't shell out tons of money for multiple pairs. Happy riding.
