K2 HellBent Skis 2009 – So you’re hell bent on high performance backcountry twin tip riding? Well don’t fret if you missed a pair last year, the K2 Factory Team inspired HellBent Ski is back for the 2009 season. Same design as 2008 with a facelift, the K2 HellBent incorporated K2’s rocker design into a fully functional twin tip. The Hell Bent is the fattest ski in the K2 twin tip line, with an impressive 150 mm tip, 122 mm underfoot and an elongated tail for switch landings. The non-rockered underfoot section of the K2 HellBent skis allow enough versatility to get you out of the backcountry and on-piste without a huge loss of performance. At evo we actually have guys from our shop riding the HellBent in the park. Vertical ABS sidewalls hold up better under intense impacts. Enjoy the backcountry the way you enjoy the park with a pair of K2 HellBent Skis.
  • Vertical ABS Sidewalls: Precision and strength all in one, so you can go to hell and back again without ever worrying about your ski core.
  • 3.5 mm edge: Thicker more durable steel edges prolong the life of your skis
  • 40/40 Rocker Design: K2’s most Extreme, with a capital E, rocker, with 40mm between the tip/tail and the traditional contact points and 40mm of rocker from those contact points. Ski deeper pow, get bigger float and enjoy the loose bio-directional feel originally inspired by the surf industry. Learn more about rocker technology
  • Tip and Tail Plates and rivets: Aesthetically pleasing, extremely functional, tip and tail reinforcements so your skis tips and tails are better prepared to take a beating. Triaxial Braided: This unique method produces skis that have a great deal of torsional rigidity and strength, while maintaining all the lively characteristics of a wood core ski.
  • Single Ski Weight:169 (5.15lbs/2338g), 189 (6.14lbs/2783.5g)

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2009:

These skiis rock. They float powder like nobody's business. They are also awesome in the crud after the powder has been tracked out. They have an amazing ability to turn crud into smooth creamy groomers. They turn on a dime in tight trees. I had a pair of 189's but went to the 179's and am much happier for it. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 200 lbs. The 179's didn't lose any float, but gained agility in the tight trees. They carve trenches on the groomers and are super playful. These are the skiis that i ski all season long. I refuse to ski anything else.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2009:

The first day I rode my Hellbents, I found them to be a little heavy waiting for the chair (I was coming off a light park ski). My first run, was odd, because they floated so well. The ski feels very light when you're actually skiing it. The biggest cliff I dropped on these was only 20 feet. They landed SUPER solid, it felt like dropping five feet. This ski was amazing. It was very good on the way back to the chair, but it sucks in crud. Crud is the only weakness of this ski. I have let a few people take some runs on them and they were stoked, they never wanted to give them back. They ride switch in pow just as good as they do forwards. I found myself throwing 180s off of every little bump and drop. I HIGHLY recommend this ski.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2009:

I'm an ex 100+ ski days a year junkie, 39 years old and hadn't skied in 5 years. That alone is sick, but I rented these last week in St. Anton Austria where we had a meter (3.5 feet) of new snow. I was fighting through some of this stuff with these slalom carving skis and being use to my old 215 cm Kastle Super G's it was doable with the slaloms but hard work. Then I switched to the Hell Bent, all I can say is Hell Yeah! It took one run to get over the shock of these things but I basically made two hard packed turns then dropped over the edge OB into waste deep windpack then into a bit heavier waste deep snow. Honestly, I might as well have been carving down a pefectly flat groomed slope, no problem keeping balance, no struggle unweighting out of the heavy stuff, plain and simple, awesome. I've never had so much fun on a pair of skis in snow over a meter deep. Left me wondering what I was doing all those years before these came along. Guess sometimes you just have to take a few years off then come back to find technology has caught up with you. I was coming down the steepest of runs with full confidence doing high speed GS or SL turns with the exception that this was more than 3.5 feet of new snow....Where do I sign?

I ski this ski everywhere. Floats over anything. Will make you ski faster, help you to slow down faster, and make you a better skier overall. If you have the option to go wide, why not just go WIDE. No compromise on this ski. I ski it everywhere.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2009:

Im new to touring but deceided to use the Hellbents for skinning this year. The rocker didn't effect the hold on the way up at all. I bought the 189's and had a blast. Mounted them +6 and they still floated great. Very cool. Chattered some at high speeds when the snow was hard, but all in all, pretty dope. Made me look like I've been skiing for years. Even hit the toll Bridge in the park on the way back down. Built tons of confidence.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2009:

I think I rode my Hellbents about 90 days during this past season and well into the summer slush at Mt. Hood. I am so in love with these skis, no matter what the snow conditions are. They are life changing; floating through powder, rallying through crud and chunder, or gripping and ripping on the groomers, they really can handle it all. Don't be decieved, they actually carve really hard and handle quite well on groomers and firmer snow. But obviously they are a serious powder tool and that is where they excell beyond all other skis I've skied. If you're into the freestyle thing and especially backcountry skiing and jumping, these are definately the weapon of choice.

The ski is sick. Designed and tested by two of the most influential skiers of our time Andy Mahre and Pep Fujas. There is no other ski! This ski will change the way you look at the mountain. New lines, new transitions, new possibilities.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2009:

The best powder ski I have ever skied. The tail is a little stiffer than the Pontoons and they handle the hardpack much better than the Pontoons. These skies love to run but also handle very well in tight spots and trees. If you are skiing powder at a 7 these skies will bring you up to a 10. A little heavy to do any serious backcounty work.
