Built to break the rules and clearly an athlete who has no objection to liquid carbohydrates, Outlaw is a moderately fat guy who is incredibly agile for his size. Combine his new, state-of-the-art progressive sidecut with the power and strength of Titan technology, and this guy has the versatility to equally party in the deep backcountry and in bounds crud. K2 teamed up with Marker bindings to create the IBX integrated binding system. The high performance IBX system binding has a one piece construction for lightning fast energy transfer.
  • Marker IBX Binding System - A binding and plate system integrated into the ski, IBX allows the ski to flex naturally. IBX is built in a single piece construction, which reduces energy dissipation and results in lighting fast energy transfer. The floating toe and fixed heel produce powerful turn initiation
  • Marker Piston Control IBX 12.0 Ti Binding – The interface has a hydraulic piston integrated into it. Piston control programs and manages ski rebound and counter-flex for a cleaner, smoother, more exhilarating ride on all skis and terrain. DIN: 3-12, recommended skier weight: 65-250 lbs
  • Titan Metal Laminate
  • MOD Monic – By focusing damping mass in the exact location where it benefits the ski the most, MOD Monic technology greatly improves performance without compromising skiability and forgiveness

Comments about K2 Apache Outlaw Skis + Marker IBX 12.0 Bindings 2006:

Update from end of 06. More time on this ski.
Tough to beat this ski for a single quiver ski.
181 cm- 225lb, 6'-3 agressive older guy (40+) but skied for more than 35 years.
Ski is good for many conditions, deep snow of course, but surprisingly well on-piste, packed NW snow and packed BC powder. Keep your edges sharp and if you are planning to go off piste, this is a great ski to get there.
You can push this ski hard in many conditions, it is surprisingly stable skiing very fast through broken deep snow or crud, especially for a 181. It is a heavy ski, but can be pushed through the bumps fairly quickly.
For big Mt. Alaska style skiing your going to want something a little more stable at speed (40+ MPH) but if your used to skiing like that you could make this ski work for you in a pinch.
I would give these a 4-1/2, but you cannot give 1/2 stars.

So far so good (06)
By Ski2fly from Issaquah, Wa. on 9/5/2006
Pros:
Predictable, Stable

Comments about K2 Apache Outlaw Skis + Marker IBX 12.0 Bindings 2006:

I debated the narrower Apache Recon, and I am glad I went with the Outlaw. From my limited end of '06 experience my observations are: You can really rip - a stable ski at speed. Turns well and tracks well, predictable. Very damp, even on frozen corn snow this ski was not jittery (a bit wide for frozen conditions though). Although an intermediate level may appreciate this ski, the expert and beyond will find it's true meaning! More time will tell if I only had one ski, will this be it (it certainly isn't any of my other skis!!)

Once fat, now the mid of the quiver

Pros:
Durable, Predictable, Stylish
Best Uses:
All Mountain

Comments about K2 Apache Outlaw Skis + Marker IBX 12.0 Bindings 2006:

With an 88m waist, the Outlaw still has the quickness and sold edge with enough float that won't slow you down in the NW new. It sounds crazy but this ski is now my hard snow ski. I'm on the Pontoon 99% of the time. I realize that most won't be able to wrap their mind around a ski without traditional sidecut and rocker but it's definitely the future. For those looking for 1 ski that will do it all, this ski absolutely rips it up. It's also a great board to ride with Naxos in all conditions. It's smooth and predictable in the corn and has the width for the BC powder days.

Comments about K2 Apache Outlaw Skis + Marker IBX 12.0 Bindings 2006:

Turning is a dream, the steep stuff no problem, likewise on ice, narrow chutes, etc. You just can't believe these even after trying all the other K2 similar models.
