Dolomite Rage X8 Ski Boot 2004 : Alpine Ski Boots

Another high performance boot from Dolomite the Rage X8 features Torsion Control System. TCS is an innovative sole consisting of two longitudinal rods that sandwich a low torsion beam. The system is designed to counteract torsional stresses created by an aggressive skier. It results in precise, accurate skiing.

Active Pivoting Spoiler- The APS provides what traditional boots can't - ideal rear support. It creates a perfect wrap, keeping in constant contact with the calf during forward flex.
Twin Tongue Liner- The TTL features a traditional front tongue and an innovative rear tongue. TTL provides maximum comfort, the rear tongue working simultaneously with the Active Pivoting Spoiler. Its special features and shape, as well as the select materials used, make it adapt perfectly to any shaped lower leg.
Vibration Dampening Sole- VDS features a bi-injection design. Rigid material makes precision contact with the binding. Less rigid VDS polymer acts as the dampening component, designed to eliminate vibration caused by hard snow and varying conditions.
Canting- A canting device that allows the cuff to take three different lateral angles for best adaptation to the shape of the leg.

I bought these off the Internet being tired of always renting at the slopes. Overall these are great boots. They are a little cumbersome working with the buckles and are a little chore to get in and out of, but once on, they allowed for some pretty aggressive fun and speed on the slopes. They are stiff for performance and are not the most comfortable boot if you are looking for comfort only. Make sure you break them in well prior to going up on the mountain. I did not break them in first and suffered on my first day. Day two and following was awesome. I am glad I made the investment.

I would highly recommend heat fitting the liners, I skied three days without doing this, and three after fitting and it makes a big difference.

Very responsive, stiff enough but with plenty of flex for bumps and trees. Still working out a few hot spots. can not beat the price/value

Maybe this is the peril of buying boots without trying them on. I did all of the research and thought I learned that these boots were good for people with wider feet/calves. I normally wear a 26.5. I bought these in 27 and 27.5. I couldn't even get the 27's on. I got the 27.5's on after much struggling, but my foot would not rest flat on the bottom. The boot was too narrow. Needless to say, I returned them. I ended up buying a pair of Salomon XWave 8's for 4 times as much as these (and in a 26.5). I was hoping to get a steal, but these did not work for me.

Fantastic boot, great control and comfort yet not recomended for cold weather. My toes freeze (in Quebec Canada at minus 10 celcius). Would be perfect for spring.
